Judith has been writing for 2 Minute Medicine for over a year, and plans to pursue a career in medical writing after her Ph.D. defense. She received a B.A. in Biochemistry and Judaic Studies from Yeshiva University in 2010, and then began her Bioengineering Ph.D. studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on the integration between cellular mechanical properties and mitochondrial function, both of which are altered in many disease states. Judith has studied mitochondrial-mechanical interactions from multiple angles, including mitochondrial motility and single cell mechanics. She enjoys using a diverse array of tools, such as atomic force microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, and computer programming in the course of her work. In addition to authoring several peer-reviewed journal publications, Judith has presented her work dozens of times in a variety of settings ranging from institutional symposia to international conferences.
In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, cooking and spending time with family and friends. She lives in Philadelphia with her husband, Ben, and her 2-year-old son, Ezra.
